In January 2001, the John F. Ryan School in Tewksbury, MA conducted a survey on zêtre.

Below is a copy of the summary as sent to the Superintendent of Schools by the Teacher.

Dear Chris:

I want to THANK YOU for delivering the Game ZETRE to our math classroom. The students love it! Regardless of their math ability, all of my 6th graders (ages 11-12) were highly engaged, and did not want to stop playing the game. In the course of a week, we do many 'mental math' activities; Now, ZETRE has become the most requested.

I had each one of my students, in attendance, fill out an evaluation (sample attached) on the game. The number in the parenthesis is the number of students who gave the question that rating. The rating system is: 1=Strongly Disagree; 2=Disagree; 3=Agree; 4=Strongly Agree. The results, out of 82 students, are as follows:

1. I was able to understand the instructions: 1 (2) 2 (6) 3 (47) 4 (27)
2. Zetre was fun to play: 1 (3) 2 (3) 3 (18) 4 (58)
3. Zetre was appropriate for my age level: 1 (1) 2 (3) 3 (22) 4 (56)
4. The game Zetre was challenging: 1 (5) 2 (13) 3 (27) 4 (37)
5. The game Zetre was visually appealing: 1 (6) 2 (14) 3 (39) 4 (22)
6. The length of time to play Zetre was appropriate: 1 (16) 2 (24) 3 (22) 4 (20)
7. I would like to play Zetre: 1 (2) 2 (6) 3 (10) 4 (64)

Some of the most noted comments were:
"Fun Game!" "I would like to buy it!" "Need more time (on the timer)."

Please feel free to share this letter with Mr. Arthur Merritt. I have attached all of the evaluations, so that Mr. Merritt can have them if he wants. As well, please forward our THANK YOU's to Mr. Merritt; We truly enjoyed his game.

Sincerely,

Brenda Theriault-Regan
6th Grade Math Teacher, Ryan Elementary School

As a side note, I brought one of the games home to play with my family (daughter 8, and son 10). I wanted to see if the game was good for all ages. We, as well, were all engaged in the game, and using the concepts that were comfortable to each one of us. Therefore, even though the age level on the box is 12 years old, Zetre can be enjoyed and modified for even younger ages.
